AFCA picks SME ombo
The Australian Financial Complaints Authority has appointed Geoff Browne as its lead ombudsman for small business. Browne was the Victorian Small Business Commissioner from 2011 to 2016. Prior to that, he was deputy director at Consumer Affairs Victoria. AFCA's small business jurisdiction is broader than the coverage of its predecessor organisations: a small business is defined as a business with less than 100 employees (up from 20); complaints about a credit facility can be up to a value of $5 million; and the compensation cap has gone up three-fold to $1 million.
