Amex credit card receivables plunge
American Express Australia suffered a sharp fall in credit card receivables last year, while its consumer lending and charge card operations were largely unchanged from the previous year.The company's financial report for the year to December shows a 35 per cent fall in credit card receivables from A$1.3 billion in 2014 to $844.5 million last year.The value of consumer loans rose from $74 million in 2014 to $75.2 million last year and the value of charge card receivables was unchanged at $1.9 billion.Amex reported revenue of $950.8 million for the year to December, compared with $957.5 million the previous year.After expenses, which included intercompany staff charges, intercompany discount expenses and intercompany service fees, the company reported a small loss.
