ANZ nominee made AmBank CEO
Ashok Ramamurthy will take over as chief executive of the AmBank Group. He replaces Cheah Tek Kuang.Ramamurthy, 50, is one of ANZ's nominees to the board of AMMB Holdings, a position he has held since ANZ bought a 20 per cent stake in the Malaysian bank in 2007, later increased to 24 per cent. The investment, with a carrying value of A$1.1 billion, is ANZ's largest in Asia.Ramamurthy has served as chief financial officer and deputy CEO over the last five years. He joined ANZ in 1988.
