ANZ sold €500 million in covered bonds through its New Zealand arm, ANZ National last night, Dow Jones reports.It is the first sale of covered bonds by ANZ, which considered selling term debt in this manner earlier this year but elected to hold back. The New Zealand arms of Australian banks have been eligible to sell covered bonds since last year.Australian banks will also soon be able to do so under legislation to amend the Banking Act that passed the Senate yesterday.ANZ NZ priced the covered bonds 95 basis points over mid swaps.
