ANZ's new marketing chief, SAP tipped to win Kiwibank deal, ASIC bans mortgage broker, whistleblower
• ANZ Bank has confirmed Carolyn Bendall as its chief marketing officer for Australia, reporting to Matthew Boss, managing director of products and marketing. Bendall, who has been at ANZ more than 20 years, had been interim CMO following the resignation of Karen Donaldson in January, who left after three years with the bank. According to cmo.com.au, Donaldson has re-emerged as GM of financial services marketing and loyalty at Coles Group. • Computer industry sources in New Zealand said SAP has won a deal to replace Kiwibank's 12 year old Ultracs system provided by Melbourne's Ultradata. Kiwibank chairman Michael Cullen said last week that Kiwibank would announce the winner of a tender to replace the bank's core computing system when it released its half year results, due next Monday. The search process took a year and the replacement process is expected to take three years. • ASIC surveillance between 2010 and 2013 showed that Parmjit Singh, a mortgage broker in Dandenong, failed to verify documents supplied in support of about 40 loan applications to various banks. Singh has agreed to cancel his Australian credit licence, and joins several other brokers convicted of criminal offences, or banned, as a result of ASIC enforcement action against brokers submitting fraudulent loan applications and "similar behaviour". The announcement led Peter White, CEO of the Finance Brokers Association of Australia, to reveal that none of the eleven brokers recently prosecuted by ASIC were FBAA members. • ASIC has updated its whistleblower rules, in line with what it foreshadowed to a Senate inquiry some months ago in the wake of the Commonwealth Financial Planning case. The updated rules extend to 'insiders' who seek to provide information but who are not defined in the existing legislation as corporate whistleblowers - mainly because they are no longer employed by the company involved at the time they make the disclosure or because they choose to disclose anonymously.
