Bank super bests industry funds in March quarter

Bank owned retail superannuation funds have once more outperformed industry super funds, at least over a short horizon.

Bank owned super funds earned a one-year return of 13.2 per cent over the year to March 2015, data from SuperRatings shows.

Industry funds earned a one-year return of 13.1 per cent.

In the final quarter of December 2014 the bank run funds also outperformed, on that occasion by a margin of 40 basis points.

Industry funds maintained their long running leadership over longer terms, ranging from an outperformance of 98 bps over three years to 181 bps over ten years.
