Bank tax champ Petschler leaves COBA
The custodian of many mutual ADI strategies during the crisis years and beyond is moving on. Louise Petschler has quit as CEO of the Customer Owned Banking Association after more than six years in the role.A media release quoted Petschler saying: "I will remain a great champion of this industry and the people working within it. However, I believe the time is right for COBA to draw on new perspectives at a leadership level, and for me to take a short break and consider my next challenge."There is no next role lined up. COBA media clarified that Petschler was "going to take a break for a short period before considering her next role."Petschler took on the challenge of heading up an industry association for a sector never really managing to grasp the opportunity ahead of it.A legacy of fractured brands usually frustrates greater coordination of mutual interests. For instance, pulling sufficient funding for industry branding and awareness was a task so tough it was done only twice over the six years, again recently. The recent campaign took a policy focus, on a bank tax, a choice likely to prove informed.
