Barclays Bank improving
Moody's changed the outlook on the 'C' bank financial strength rating assigned to Barclays Bank Plc to stable from negative and at the same time affirmed its 'Aa3/P-1' credit ratings. The change is based on improvements in the balance sheet over the last 18 months in terms of capital, leverage and liquidity, backed up by the more active approach the bank has taken to establish solid capital buffers.Moody's said the bank's standalone credit strength is now well captured at the 'C' level, which equates to an 'A3' baseline credit assessment. The 'Aa3' senior debt rating continues to incorporate an expectation of high support by the UK government. Barclays' has only A$250 million of September 2013, ten-year bonds outstanding in the domestic market.
