Bendigo and Adelaide in dispute with community branch
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank's community bank franchise is under strain, as the bank tries to take a bigger share of income, according to a report in The Australian.Bendigo and Adelaide is running a program to realign the revenue share from 300 locally owned community branches. At the moment 60 per cent of revenue flows to the branches but the bank is moving that back to 50 per cent.It is doing that by reducing the commissions on deposits and loans. According to the report, last month it cut the commission on term deposits of more than 90 days from 37.5 basis points to 25 bps. These changes are causing some friction. Last month, in a letter to a director of the Aldinga Beach branch in South Australia, the bank wrote: "If your board truly believes the partnership unfairly favours Bendigo, do you want the partnership to continue?"The report quoted a Bendigo and Adelaide representative, saying there were three branches with "lingering issues".
