EECU, the Esso Employees Credit Union, has picked Ashley Hood as its new chief executive, following the retirement of David Nicholds after 20 years at the helm.

Hood, EECU outlined, "is a banker with over 25 years experience, having held senior executive roles at the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and executive director roles in various subsidiary and joint venture companies of the bank."

He was previously CEO of Foresters Group, a social impact lender and fund manager. Hood has also held senior leadership roles at Deloitte, NAB and St George Bank.

Hood's Bendigo vintage is extensive; state manager in Queensland, chief operating officer of Delphi Bank for a time and with an IT management background. He served on the Homesafe board among others.

A stint at Harvard Business School is one more detail.

He commences at EECU today, 7 December 2015.
