NAB’s Kiwi subsidiary BNZ is suing Wellington City Council for more than NZ$101 millionover the now demolished earthquake-damaged BNZ building on the city’s waterfront.
The damages claim has been revealed during a related court case, reports Stuff.
BNZ is suing over alleged negligence by the Council over granting the building consent and issuing a code compliance certificate.
The purpose-built building, completed in 2009, was designed for BNZ on Waterloo Quay.
The owner of the land is CentrePort which leased the building to BNZ. It was water damaged in a 2013 earthquake, then so badly damaged during the 2016 Kaikoura that no one was allowed back into the building, and it has now been taken down.
