BPS Technology cracks the Chinese B2B market
BPS Technology, the operator of the Bartercard system, has entered into an agreement with payment system provider SmartTrans to sell products in China via Alibaba's e-commerce platform 1688.com.BPS operates a business-to-business exchange with 24,000 merchants. The deal with SmartTrans means that its network will have access to the B2B e-commerce market in China."BPS is now able to provide the ability for its merchants to market and sell their products in China and receive payment in Australia via its agreement with established online payments business SmartTrans, which is providing a specialist Australian product outlet on Alibaba's 1688.com site," BPS said in a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange.SmartTrans is an Australian company with established payment processing relationships in China. It has agreements with China Mobile, China Telecom and China UnionPay.Under the agreement with BPS and Alibaba, SmartTrans will receive payments from customers and settle payments to merchants outside China worth up to US$50,000 a day.BPS will start by providing access to key merchants in its network and look to expand its presence over time.Alibaba's 1688.com site handles sales between importers and exporters from more than 240 countries.
