Brief: ANZ reassures Asian customers

ANZ chief executive Shayne Elliott has told Asian clients that the bank intends to remain a "major player" in  the region, The Australian reports. Speaking in Hong Kong last week, Elliott said it was natural for the bank to go through a period of consolidation after its rapid expansion. He said the bank's focus was on supporting institutional customers. He conceded that the bank's message about it's plans for Asia had been "ambiguous".
