Brief: Makhlouf puts up his hand
New Zealand Treasury Secretary Gabriel Makhlouf has nominated himself as Treasury's observer on the new RBNZ Monetary Policy Committee, reports Newsroom. An official announcement is expected later this week, but sources say Reserve Bank governor Adrian Orr has accepted Makhlouf's proposal, which will see him take a seat on the committee alongside four RBNZ appointees and three external members charged with making OCR decisions (formally the sole responsibility of the RBNZ governor).
