Brief: NAB introducer who wasn't avoids jail
A Melbourne photocopier technician who received almost A$800,000 in commissions from NAB has avoided jail for his part in the loan scam. Nic D'Agostino will have to repay the $67,000 he pocketed, a $1000 fine and do community service, reports The Sydney Morning Herald. D'Agostino became an introducer for NAB on the recommendation of a family friend who worked at the bank. The friend took between 90 to 95 per cent of the commissions the bank paid out for more than 300 loans D'Agostino had, in reality, had nothing to do with. It is alleged the bank staff member included the referral confirmation forms amongst all the other paperwork customers had to sign.
