Brief: Risky use of email by Kiwibank exec
Kiwibank's chief risk officer has left the bank following an investigation into emails sent from his work account to a customer of his wife's business. Malcolm Bruce (who left the bank at the end of last month) sent the emails in 2018 to a disgruntled client of his wife's kitchen company. He advised the client - who was also a Kiwibank customer - to accede to demands to forgo an extra $7000 of the deposit he had paid to the kitchen company before deciding not to go ahead with the planned kitchen. Bruce said he "genuinely made a mistake" in using his Kiwibank email, reports Stuff. A spokesperson for the bank said the concerns were dealt with at the time, and did not confirm whether Bruce's departure was related.
