Brief: SocietyOne to ramp up operations, new ANZ small business manager

Start-up peer-to-peer lender SocietyOne will take the next step in its development next month, when it announces the involvement of a "strategic investor". SocietyOne's chief executive, Matt Symons told delegates at the Loan Origination Excellence conference in Sydney yesterday that the company, which was launched in August 2012, would then be ready to move out of its "soft launch" phase and ramp up its marketing to the consumer market. ANZ has appointed Kate Gibson as its general manager of small business banking. Gibson has spent the past three years as general manager of the greater Melbourne branch network. She will report to Mark Whelan, managing director of corporate and commercial banking.
