The Financial Ombudsman Service has come under attack from Senator Nick Xenophon, who says it may need to be replaced by a statutory body. The ABC included hs comments in a report about a complaint to FOS, where the case manager allegedly said the case had merit but would be classified as outside its terms of reference because FOS did not have staff to deal with it. When the ruling was challenged FOS claimed there were other reasons for the classification that had never been presented to the complainant's representative.
