Briefs: ANZ cuts research staff, imposes hiring freeze
ANZ is cutting 28 jobs in its economics, strategy and publications units, the ABC reports. The cuts represents a 40 per cent reduction in research roles and follow the recent departures of Warren Hogan, who was chief economist for 11 years, and Mark Pervan, who was global head of commodity research for nine years. And the Australian Financial Review reports that the bank has imposed a company-wide hiring freeze, along with a crackdown on travel expenses and other discretionary costs.
