Over the first eight months of 2012, customers moved A$10 billion around, the bank said. ANZ said it has now made the app available for smartphones that use the Android operating system. National Australia Bank's internet banking service was offline for several hours yesterday. The strife affected the service for the bank's main brand and also for its UBank brand. Complaints on Twitter put the start time at around 7.30am Melbourne time. Complaints had petered out by around 2pm. Financial counsellors in Victoria say that Commonwealth Bank is the most difficult of the four4 major banks to deal with when negotiating hardship cases. The the Financial and Consumer Rights Council said that Westpac also "failed" along with CBA under its criteria. The council surveyed 100 of its members. Payday lender Cash Converters has extended its franchise to Dubai, where it has opened a pawn shop. The company operates a short-term personal loan business and a chain of pawn shops in Australia and the United Kingdom. It said, in a statement, that it would target Dubai's expatriate community, where there is a strong demand for buying and selling used or unwanted items.
