Briefs: CommComm takes on UDC, Comyn to chair ABA, not scouting for POLi buyer
• New Zealand's Commerce Commission has filed High Court proceedings against ANZ subsidiary UDC Finance alleging it has charged unreasonable default fees. The Commission is seeking a court declaration that the finance company breached the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act, and also a court order compensating affected borrowers. It says UDC's dishonour and late payment fees were excessive and the company's charges often included recovery costs that it did incur until much later, if at all. • Matthew Comyn will assume the role of chair of the Australian Banking Association in December, the ABA said on Friday. Commonwealth Bank's CEO will replace ANZ's Shayne Elliott. Suncorp Bank's David Carter will have his term as deputy chair extended for another year. • Australia Post "is not actively scouting for buyers" for POLi Payments, Post said on Friday.
