Briefs: Deadline for Code of Banking Practice submissions extended, ING Direct launches Android Pay
The reviewer of the Code of Banking Practice has extended the deadline for submissions to its review of the Code. The Australian Bankers Association appointed an independent reviewer, Cameron Ralph managing director Phil Khoury, to look at whether the Code still serves customers' interests and make recommendations to improve it. The new deadline for submissions is August 31. The review's terms of reference are available at www.cobpreview.cameronralph.com.au. ING Direct is the latest bank to offer Android Pay, launching the service with AbilityMate, which will direct funds to charity with each payment. For every purchase using an ING Direct account and Android Pay, the bank will donate A$1 to AbilityMate, which supports people with disabilities or mobility problems. Standard & Poor's has revised its outlook for Qudos Bank from stable to positive, citing the completion of a core banking upgrade at the mutual bank as a factor likely to reduce risk. "Further, implementation of these systems is likely to enhance the bank's risk management and sales capabilities, which we view as necessary for its long-term business franchise" S&P said. S&P's rating of the bank, which changed its name from Qantas Credit Union in April, is BBB/A-2.
