ANZ chief executive for institutional and international banking Andrew Geczy has quit the bank. Geczy joined the bank in 2013 after working in senior wholesale banking and asset management roles at Lloyds Banking Group and Citigroup. He leaves ANZ a couple of months after Shayne Elliott took over the reins from Mike Smith. Impaired debt buyer Pioneer Credit has appointed Tony Bird as its inaugural chief risk officer. Bird joins Pioneer after ten years at Commonwealth Bank, where he held the role of executive manager collection strategy, head of retail credit risk at Bankwest and head of investigations. Pioneer Credit managing director Keith John said one of Bird's first jobs would be to review the company's credit cards and loans strategy. A senior financial planner at Westpac is suing the bank, alleging that the bank would not promote him because clients would be reluctant to deal with an Indian, The Australian Financial Review reports. Adelaide planner Vikram Chopra. Chopra claims he was told by his boss that some of the bank's wealthy clients had been reluctant to deal with his predecessor, who was also of Indian background. Chopra is claiming more than A$1 million damages for loss of earnings.
