Business lending slide comes to a halt
After falling steadily since the start of the year, new business lending picked up in September.According to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics lending data, new commercial financial commitments rose 2.7 per cent in September, compared with the previous month (in seasonally adjusted terms).In trend terms, new commercial finance commitments rose 0.6 per cent in September - the first upward movement in the trend series this year.Businesses borrowed A$39.4 billion in September - 10.5 per cent down on the same time last year.There was no turnaround in new personal finance commitments, which have also been falling for most of the year.New personal finance commitments fell 0.3 per cent in September, in seasonally adjusted terms, and 1.5 per cent in trend terms.
