Cabcharge defends itself against monopoly charge
Cabcharge chair Reg Kermode yesterday defended the merit of the fees and practices of the taxi payments' processor against renewed charges of "monopoly" behaviour levelled by Allan Fels, head of the Taxi Industry Inquiry in Victoria.Kermode said there were "a range of competitors" in the industry - there are, but their market share is disputed. And he said that without the 10 per cent service fee "the taxi industry would be a cash business for everyone".Without mentioning Google by name, Kermode also blew any remaining cover on the trial underway of Google Wallet, which is being sponsored by Commonwealth Bank.
