CAT cuts in at $150m for Suncorp

10 February 2009 5:48PM
Suncorp offered its sympathy to victims of Victorian bushfires and at the same time assured policyholders and others that it had reinsurance cover in place for catastrophic events.Under its reinsurance arrangements, Suncorp Group's catastrophe reinsurance cover applies to events costing more than $150 million. It also has cover for multiple separate claims events, in excess of $10 million, costing more than $250 million in aggregate during the 2008/09 financial year.Suncorp is likely to be more affected than many insurers from the floods in far north Queensland rather than the fires in Victoria.Suncorp said it had mobilised significant resources to assist customers affected by the fires. "We have established dedicated telephone contact teams and our staff is available around the clock to assist customers," said Suncorp Personal Insurance Group executive Bernadette Inglis.Insurance News Australia
