CBA launches an online forum
Commonwealth Bank has launched what it claims is the world's first retail bank online support forum. The service, called Support Community (https://community.commbank.com.au), allows CBA customers to ask questions about their banking arrangements and receive advice from other customers, as well as from bank staff.Commonwealth Bank's general manager for online banking, Drew Unsworth, said the forum was designed as another way customers could get their queries answered.Having a site where customers respond to other customers' queries involves challenges, such as how much criticism of the bank will be allowed.Unsworth said the site would be moderated and customers would have to identify themselves when they entered the forum (but not when they posted on it). He said it would not be a free-for-all. However, part of the aim is to make the bank more transparent in its dealings with customers."If people have a problem we want to know about it so we can deal with it," he said.So far, people have been pretty well behaved. Customers have been asking how to change passwords, activate new credit cards, get help with cards that aren't working overseas, and start using BPay.
