Chan replaces Symons at SocietyOne

Co-founder of SocietyOne, Matt Symons, is moving from an executive role to a non-executive director role at the marketplace lender. His executive duties will be taken over by Jonathan Chan, who has been appointed chief product and strategy officer. Chan moved to SocietyOne from Boston Consulting Group. Prior to that he worked for Westpac in a strategy role for six years.SocietyOne announced a couple of other management changes. Stephen Cole, another Westpac alumnus, has been appointed head of credit and business analytics.And Sarah Black has been appointed head of people and culture. She previously worked at Elsevier Australia.The company is also looking for a chief investment officer and a chief marketing officer.The beefing up of the company's management team follows a A$25 million capital raising in May.The company also announced that it reached $150 million of loans funded through its platform earlier this month and forecast that it would hit $200 million of loans this year.The company passed A$50 million in September last year and $100 million in April. The total loan balance now exceeds $100 million.SocietyOne chief executive Jason Yetton said in a media release that the market was opening up and the company was experiencing real momentum in demand for loans and the amounts that investors were willing to advance.The company has $75 million of committed funding available for lending. The default rate is 1.17 per cent.
