Clydesdale corrects five year old mortgage mistake

Clydesdale Bank in Britain discovered errors in the calculation of mortgage payments for 18,000 customers, The Herald reported. The glitch dates back to 2005 and detected by a customer, who alerted the bank, in mid 2009.

The bank is working out terms with customers to catch up on payments. The bank says the amounts are relatively small though the newspaper reported that for some customers the increased monthly payment is around £300. The error amounts to £19 million.

Clydesdale is a subsidiary of National Australia Bank.
