Comprehensive credit reporting will take years to emerge
Australia's leading credit reporting company, Veda, has cautioned that the development of comprehensive credit reporting capabilities will be a long-term project. Veda said it would be a couple of years before the use of credit files with comprehensive data started to become commonplace.Veda chief executive Nerida Caesar said making the transition to CCR was not a trivial exercise.Veda made 700 system changes to get ready for the introduction of the new regime in March. "We have a fully compliant business," Caesar said. The company has been working with a group of ten customers on a pilot. Some customers are now providing comprehensive data.Caesar said: "That is quite a task, with all the formatting required. They have to manage to the CCR data standard. We are working with them on transition planning."They will be testing for many months and getting familiar with the system."What the New Zealand experience has taught us is that it will take a couple of years."New Zealand moved to CCR in April 2012 but it was only this year that credit providers started accessing credit files with comprehensive data.
