Cripps takes over at HSBC Australia
HSBC has appointed Tony Cripps, currently chief executive of HSBC Philippines, to head the group's operations in Australia. Cripps takes over from Paulo Maia, who is moving to the top job at HSBC Canada.Cripps has been with HSBC for 25 years. He started as head of derivatives in Australia and since then has worked in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the Philippines.Maia has been in Australia since July 2009.The chief executive of HSBC Asia Pacific, Peter Wong, said in a statement: "Australia is one of 20 priority growth markets for the HSBC Group and we are committed to growth in this market."With an increasingly international population, we see growing demand for cross-border banking services. Tony's Australian and international experience positions him perfectly to continue that growth."
