Cross-border claims rise

Ian Rogers
The cross-border claims of BIS reporting banks rose by 1.2 per cent to US$30 trillion over the year to June 2014, the Bank for International Settlements said in its Quarterly Review.

The BIS said this was "the first increase in the annual growth rate of cross-border claims since late 2011."

It said a modest recovery in international lending during the June 2014 quarter "appears to have coincided with a continued strengthening of risk appetite."
