Cuscal's 86 400 holds inaugural board meeting
The new board overseeing the Cuscal-backed 86 400 mobile banking platform held its first meeting in Sydney earlier this month.As previously announced, the company has appointed UK banking pioneer Anthony Thomson as its executive chairman.Thompson is the founder of several UK digital banking businesses including the rapidly growing, Atom Bank.As 86 400's largest shareholder Cuscal has two representatives on the board - CEO Craig Kennedy and chief financial officer, Sean O'Donoghue.Two independent directors joined the board earlier this month, including former Macquarie veteran, Belinda Cooney.Cooney worked for 23 years in various roles at the Millionaires' Factory before taking up her current position as CFO at technology services firm, Interactive.The other independent director is career banker Akiko Jackson.While Jackson is probably best known in Australia for previous roles at Westpac and CBA, she also has deep experience in the Japanese banking sector having worked at Mitsubishi UFJ and Shinsei Bank.
