DBM sees business customer satisfaction levels flatten
After rising steadily through most of 2011, business customer satisfaction with the major banks plateaued in November and December, according to the latest DBM Consultants report.DBM managing director Dhruba Gupta said business banking sentiment correlates closely with economic conditions, rather than movements in interest rates.Gupta said there was a strong chance that business satisfaction with banks would remain flat throughout 2012, as business conditions deteriorated.Gupta said this was bad news for the banks because it pointed to reduced demand for finance."Banks will have to work hard to maintain business banking levels and extra hard to find new business," he said.Westpac had the highest business customer satisfaction score in December, with a rating of 7.5 (out of 10). Commonwealth Bank had a rating of 7.3, ANZ had 7.0 and National Australia Bank had a 6.9 score.
