Discrimination rife in finance
A quarter of pregnant women working in the finance industry "believed that they had been discriminated against," the Finance Sector Union has found.In material prepared by the union for the Human Rights Commission and the Productivity Commission, the FSU said:• 67 per cent of surveyed members "are unhappy with their job and work arrangements after returning from parental leave."• 26 per cent "believed that they had been discriminated against as a result of their pregnancy."• 25 per cent "advised that issues with accessing childcare prevented them from working the number of hours they would prefer to."• 25 per cent "ended up leaving employment altogether due to issues with flexible working arrangements and childcare even though their preference was to continue working."
