eftpos trials online payments
Payment card company eftpos has launched an online payments trial with retailer Coles. The trial will make online eftpos payments available to 350 consumers via the Coles website.eftpos said it would be working with ANZ and Commonwealth Bank on other online trials over coming months.Eftpos chief executive Bruce Mansfield said in a statement that the company's online service would include real-time transaction account updates and the ability for merchants and consumers to set spending limits.Mansfield said eftpos was aiming for a high level of security and no card details would be exchanged between consumer and merchant with its online payments. To enable this, the consumer would register via their bank and all details taken would be stored centrally but not provided to the merchant. When the consumer made an online purchase using an eftpos card, they would provide user name and password and the central system would authorise the transaction. He said the company was aiming to commercialise online eftpos payments by next year.
