Extension for Code review submissions
The consultant conducting the review of the Code of Banking Practice has extended the deadline for submissions from July 9 to July 31.Jan McClelland, the principal of McClelland and Associates, said consumer and banking industry groups had made requests for extra time to complete their submissions.The Code, which has been operating since 1996, is reviewed every three years.A preliminary review, published last month, makes 44 recommendations covering credit assessment, hardship, debt collection, guarantees, reverse mortgages, fees and charges, direct debits, electronic banking, opening of accounts and chargebacks.
