There were 710,000 dropouts from tertiary courses in management and commerce in 2015, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said yesterday.In all, there were 2.7 million tertiary and certificate level dropouts in Australia, the ABS said.Sixty-six per cent of management and commerce graduates work in the field they trained in.The ABS release touches on important topics.The proportion of adult migrants who had a bachelor degree or higher on arrival increased from 23 per cent for those who migrated before 2001 to 45 per cent for those who migrated after 2010. The proportion of adult migrants who held a non-school qualification on arrival to Australia increased from 39 per cent for those who arrived before 2001, to 62 per cent for those arriving after 2010. The ABS said this increase was "most notable in female adult migrants", with 32 per cent having a non-school qualification on arrival before 2001 compared with 61 per cent for those arriving after 2010.In 2015, 9.4 million or 61 per cent of Australians aged 15 to 64 had a non-school qualification, up from 8.7 million (59 per cent) in 2011.More than three quarters (82 per cent) of people with a non-school qualification were employed compared with 61 per cent of those without a non-school qualification, a proportion stable over the last five years.
