First products off the NAB Lab production line
National Australia Bank has launched two new technology-based services, which are products of its digital hub, NAB Labs.Business In One. This is a cloud-based digital platform that integrates third party business apps, such as Xero accounting, MYOB tax and accounting, Eventbrite ticketing, and the Signme digital mailbox. Business In One allows data entered in any one application to update all other apps. It was developed in conjunction with the technology company Maestrano.NAB Dash. This a smartphone app that allows users to pay for food and drink by using location-based technology. Designed for use at sports grounds, staff at the nearest bar or food outlet receive the order and begin preparing it before the customer arrives. NAB is trialling the app at Metricon Stadium, the home of AFL team the Gold Coast Suns.NAB chief executive Andrew Thorburn said in a speech yesterday that NAB Labs, which was established last year, was helping the bank make changes faster.Thorburn also announced the formation of a strategic alliance with the University of Melbourne and Melbourne Business School to promote innovation and collaboration between the business and university sectors.The agreement will facilitate the exchange of people and ideas between NAB Labs and the university.
