Foreign news: Amazon onto a winner if it jumps into banking
A study of Amazon Prime subscribers in the US found 65 per cent of them would open a bank account with the e-commerce giant, reports Finextra. The survey suggests if Amazon makes the move into banking services, it could count on significant demand. The survey, of 6,000 consumers, found 43 per cent of non-Prime Amazon customers and 37 per cent of people who don't shop with Amazon would also consider opening an account with the company in return for cash back on online shopping. (Amazon currently offers two per cent cash bank on their co-branded credit card). Amazon also scored significantly higher than US banks for customer loyalty, with a net promoter score of 47 compared to 18 for banks.
