Foreign news: Apple Pay to launch in Japan, Citibank teams with Grab
Apple has confirmed that it will launch Apple Pay in Japan next month, Finextra reports. Apple will incorporate Japanese railway company JR East's Suica payment system to allow Japanese iPhone 7 users to make contactless payment for public transport. Apple is also expected to launch Apple Pay on the web with the launch of the iOS 10 operating system next week. Citibank has teamed up with an Asian Uber clone, Grab, to allow its customers to pay for rides with reward points, Finextra reports. The service is about to go live in Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Citi customers who charge their ride to a Citi card will receive a text message asking them if they would like to redeem points to pay the fare. It is the first time the bank has integrated a payment card with a transport app.
