Foreign News: Denmark reels over money laundering scandal
The CEO of Denmark's largest bank has resigned and the country's Prime Minister has vowed to take further action against Danske Bank and its executives over massive money laundering activities at its Estonian branch. Thomas Borgen has stood down as CEO and Danske faces billions in fines from Danish, European and US regulators - but Prime Minister Lars Rasmussen said "the case does not end with this", reports The Guardian. Borgen admitted that most of the £180 billion that passed through Danske's Estonian branch was money-laundered cash flowing illegally out of Russia, the UK and the British Virgin Islands. It is suspected dozens of its employees colluded with the money-laundering customers.
