Foreign news: Google revives Gmail payments
Google has decided to re-enter what is now a crowded P2P payments arena, reviving an app that lets US users send and receive money through Gmail, reports Finextra. This time, Google is running the service as an Android (but not iOS) app, free to the tens of millions of US Gmail account holders. Recipients do not need a Gmail account and can have the money routed directly to their bank accounts. Unlike in 2013, P2P is a fast growing market, now dominated by PayPal's Venmo, alongside Square Cash and the bank-backed Zelle.
