Foreign news: ING clears the way for innovation
ING has promoted Ignacio Juliá Vilar, an executive from its Polish division, into the role of chief innovation officer. This will be combined with a newly created position, head of retail banking segment, "to give greater executional certainty to new retail innovation projects", according to Finextra. Vilar will start in May, reporting to head of challengers and growth markets, Aris Boganeris. Around 18 months ago the bank set out a three year plan to cut 1700 jobs and spend $200 million simplifying and upgrading its IT systems, boosting its digital services.
