Foreign news: UK tries to make senior bankers accountable
London's top nine international banks have signed up almost 250 managers for the UK's tough new regime to make senior bankers more accountable, the Financial Times reports. Just over 16 per cent are women. The senior manager regime, which bankers profess to be "terrified" of, started a week ago, leaving executives open to penalties up to and including jail for failings on their watch. International banks had lobbied against the regime, arguing it would make London a less attractive place for their internationally mobile executives, the FT says.
