Genworth offers hardship relief in Christchurch
Genworth Financial has about 5000 home loans insured in Christchurch, which represents about one-fifth of one per cent of its Australian and New Zealand portfolio. The group head of corporate affairs, Craig McKenzie, said the extent of the earthquake meant that normal business in the city could be disrupted for some time.McKenzie said: "We have communicated our hardship policy to lenders. If a lender is approached by a home owner or small business owner impacted by the event we will approve a repayment holiday of three months."We can go above that if the circumstances warrant a further extension. Repayment holidays can go out to six months."
