Goldman to review Kiwibank capital
New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has confirmed Goldman Sachs has been appointed to review Kiwibank's capital needs, but he has ruled out a government sale. "Kiwibank, which is rapidly emerging as the growth business for New Zealand Post, they want more capital from the government," Key told TVNZ's Breakfast program."That's been their primary argument for some time, and so Treasury appointed Goldman to go and have a look at the whole business and see where the growth opportunities lie and see whether they're on the right track," he said."It's not with a view to sale," he said.Kiwibank also said last week it was reviewing its capital needs because it was growing its lending faster than its profit growth could generate fresh capital.
