Ideabank broached by CBA
Commonwealth Bank applied for a trademark on the term "Ideabank" late last month, a step that one bank researcher links to plans for a crowdsourcing social media initiative by the bank.Christophe Langlois, UK-based author of the Visible Banking blog, reported on the CBA trademark yesterday, citing the Twitter feed of Melbourne-based trademark service firm TMarque.Langlois wrote that the bank may plan "a new innovation [or] idea generation platform" that, he said, may be similar to Dell's "Ideastorm".Andy Lark, the recently hired chief marketing officer of CBA, came from Dell. The bank's application to IP Australia categorises the trademark as being relevant to computer games, advertising, banking and blogging.
