IMF Bentham goes global
Litigation funder IMF Bentham is moving into the European and Asian markets, with the acquisition of Omni Bridgeway Holdings.IMF will pay €87.5 million for Omni Bridgeway, whose activities include litigation and arbitration funding, as well as the financing of enforcement proceedings and workouts.The company, which has been going since 1986, has regional offices in Amsterdam, Cologne, Geneva, Dubai and Singapore.At the end of last financial year, it had €34 million of capitalised investments in its claims portfolio and 320 pending cases with more than €2.5 billion of claim value under management.Its income was €20 million and net profit €5 million.IMF said in a statement that the acquisition would allow it to diversify risk through geographic expansion and would allow it to raise capital from new sources.It claims the acquisition will give it "the most comprehensive global platform for sourcing investment opportunities and service offerings."
