ING Australia ends all ATM and online shopping fees globally
ING Australia is ramping up its efforts to reward existing customers and attract new account holders - provided they bring enough business to make ING their main bank. With this in mind, from today (10 November) ING Australia will end ATM fees globally and drop its fees - to zero in some instances - for international transactions made overseas or online. Only the Visa wholesale exchange rate will be applied. ING will not add any fees on top of this, and in fact has undertaken to rebate any overseas ATM fees.(Note: the cash advance fee remains at two per cent of the cash advance amount or A$2, whichever is greater.)The changes apply to ING's Orange Everyday transaction account and Orange One credit card. To take advantage of the offer customers need to deposit at least $1,000 monthly from an external source (eg salary) into their Orange Everyday account and, from 1 March 2018, also make at least five card purchases monthly. The bank said in a media release that "the move follows changing travelling and spending habits by ING customers" and that the average international spend of an ING customer has grown 17 per cent in the past three years. ING said 350,000 Australians now call ING their main bank. In the first nine months of this year ING racked up record customer growth with a 50 per cent jump in 'main bank' customers.
